Gisteren hebben we een groot spandoek opgehangen aan de Torenstraat in het centrum van Den Haag. De actie is zowel bedoeld als statement tegen te hoge huren voor woningen als voor mobilisatie voor de actiedagen van 31/07 & 01/08.
Yesterday we hung a big banner at the Torenstraat in the centre of The Hague. The action is meant as a statement against high rental prices for housing and as a mobilisation for the actiondays on 31/07 & 01/08.

Vrije sector huurwoningen in Den Haag zijn twee keer zo duur als ze zouden moeten zijn* (vergeleken met de woonpuntenregeling), terwijl het aanbod van sociale huurwoningen alleen maar krimpt. Huiseigenaren en vastgoedbedrijven liften mee op gentrificatie, woningnood en het tekort aan (betaalbare) woningen. Dit is niet alleen in Den Haag een probleem, maar wereldwijd. De huur is veel te fucking duur! De rijken trachten zich de stad toe te eigenen en iedereen die minder te besteden heeft eruit te verbannen.
Het is de hoogste tijd om terug te vechten!

Rental houses in The Hague are twice as expensive as they should be (compared to the point based rental system), meanwhile the amount of social housing keeps diminishing. Landlords and real-estate companies are riding the wave of gentrification, homelesness and housing scarcity. This not an isolated problem, but a worldwide trend. The rent is too fucking high! The rich are trying to claim the city and bannish those with less wealth to its outskirts.
Time to fight back!
